Boy Scout Troop 719 of Eldersburg, Maryland, was chartered
in 1958 to Wesley-Freedom United Methodist Church. For the past
several years, the troop has maintained a scout membership of between
60 to 75 boys. We have a strong and committed adult support team,
with an active Scoutmaster, several Assistant Scoutmasters, and Committee
members.
The troop program allows the boys to participate in all areas
of the BSA scouting program. For advancement, the troop runs a Trail
to First Class program and a Merit Badge program weekly. There
are monthly outings 11 months out of the year, with some months having
more than one outing. There is a troop Junior Leader Training program,
and both scouts and scouters alike are encouraged to attend District and
Council training programs.
One troop fundraiser is held each year. This is our annual
Christmas Tree sale, and it is held at Carrolltown Center. This fundraiser
allows us to fund all of the necessary operational expenses and supplement
the cost of some trips. A large portion of the proceeds from the
fundraiser goes toward supplementing the expenses for summer camp.
If you are interested in joining the troop or would like further
information, please feel free to attend one of our regular meetings.
