WELCOME TO BOY SCOUT TROOP
Caving At Laurel Caverns
We went on a caving trip to Laurel Caverns this
month! Due to traffic, it took us awhile longer than we thought to
get there, and we ended up setting up camp late. Yuck! However,
we did finally get there, and once camp was setup, we got right to bed. The
next morning, we got up and had breakfast and did the usual cleanup then
prepared for the first part of the day. We started out with the Geology
Merit Badge. This was conducted by Laurel Caverns, they have a staffer
who is a Geology MB Counselor. As a part of the merit badge, we went
out and had a nice hike while learning about the rock formations in the area.
The hike included a stop along a section of the property that contained
a lot of fossils. They guys were each allowed to bring home one fossil
that they really liked (the rest were left behind to be found by others who
followed us). We then broke for a bag lunch while at the caverns. After
lunch, we got to go down in the caves. It was a fun time, and no one
really got too muddy! Check out the pictures and explore the caves
with us! Oh yea, don't forget to check for the orbs of cavers past
in some of the pictures!
