    Broadcreek Field Sports Weekend
    September 10-12, 2004

We once again participated in the Broadcreek Field Sports Challenge Weekend at Camp Safran this year.  We got in late on Friday night, and once registration and various organizational meetings were completed, we finally hit the sleeping bags around midnight (whew, long day!).  We got up the next morning, had breakfast, and proceeded to the opening flag ceeremony.  It was very touching as the flag was raised, then set to half-staff in honor of 09/11.  The guys were then off to the events!  Our SPL was on staff at the pier, so the SM and one of the ASM's headed down to help get the pier setup.  There was also another scout helping out, so we went canoeing and rowing after setup.  The SM almost tipped the rowboat when returning to the dock, good thing no one had a camera on them then!  The guys had a great time with shooting and archery in the afternoon, and a couple of us went fishing.  Very relaxing as the weather was beautiful and the skys were gorgeous.  The evening campfire was put together well.  It was also very touching as again, 09/11 was honored with a flag presentation and patriotic music played at the end.  The campfire ended with an acappella version of God Bless America under only the light of the stars and the campfire.  A fitting end to a wonderful day.  Check out the pictures and enjoy!
