WELCOME TO BOY SCOUT TROOP
Fort McHenry/USCGC Taney We had a wonderful trip to Fort McHenry and then spent
the night on the Coast Guard cutter USCGC Taney
the weekend of November 13, 2004. Saturday was a brisk but sunny day,
and we met up with Troop 41 from
Landisville, PA. Their Scoutmaster is an Eagle from our Troop, Class
of 1983! We had a nice time touring Ft. McHenry and got to participate
in the flag ceremony at the end of the day. We then proceeded over to
the dock in Baltimore's Inner Harber where the Taney was docked and proceeded
to board the ship. The coordinator briefed us on the rules and the schedule,
then we proceeded to check out our bunks and stow our gear. We did
some exploring, ate chow, then had a guided tour of the ship before finally
hitting the bunks. The next morning, we particiapted in raising the
colors, ate chow, and packed up our gear. We then had a tour of the
USS
Torsk and the Seven Foot
Knoll Lighthouse. It was a nice weekend and hopefully, it gave us
some appreciation of what our brave men and women put up with to protect us
in times of danger and in preventing danger. We hope that you enjoy
your tour with us!
